1924
Notes from Bob Leathers with contribution from Bill Becker
1924
The Union Pacific Coal Company's Old Timers' Association was created in June 1924. It was situated in Rock Springs, Wyoming. The first annual reunion of the Association was held June 13, 1925 in Rock Springs with Eugene McAuliffe, the president of the Union Pacific Coal Company, as the main speaker.
The outstanding creation of the past twenty years was the organization of the Union Pacific Coal Company's Old Timers' Association, which held its first reunion at Rock Springs on June 13, 1925, with 269 members, their wives and guests in attendance. (UPCM)
The association was not short lived. Over time the association continued to grow and prosper.
June 17, 1939: The Association has grown in numbers. dignity and influence. The fifteenth Annual Reunion held on June 17, 1939, a total of 752 members, (795 names listed as of April 1, 1940), with from twenty to sixty years of service, some of these scattered throughout the western states, with twelve Chinese veterans of the bitter days of 1885 living in far off China. We are proud to acclaim these elder employes and it is a joy to know that many of them have sons, grandsons, and ever great-grandsons, working in Company mines. (UPCM)

Hanna Old Timers Receive 40-Year Service Emblems
Eight Old Timers who were unable to be present at the Old Timers’ Banquet and Presentation, October 6, at Rock Springs, were presented their 40-year service buttons during the monthly Safety Meeting held in the Hanna Theatre, November 12, 1946.
Mark Jackson’s Orchestra furnished the music for the special occasion, which proved to be entertaining and appropriate as in the past. Mr. V. O. Murray, General Manager, called the Old Timers to the stage and gave a brief resume of their enviable records.
