2012 July: A Visit to Pekin and Lonaconing, Allegany County, Maryland

July of 2012: We traveled with my good friends, Jim and Cel Landen to Pekin and Lonaconing, Allegany County, Maryland looking for some Tennant family history. I set out wanting to know where the Tennant family came from and what it was like there. I was interested to know why they left Maryland for Carbon and Hanna and why they stay in those places even after experiencing what seemed to be a harsh life. (Bob Leathers)
Pekin, Maryland home of Alexander and Mary (Gray) Tennant is an unincorporated community in Allegany County, Maryland. It is a very small town located between Lonaconing and Westernport. It is located on the Lower Georges Creek Road S.W. (Google Mapp) (BL). Images by Bob Leathers taken on a trip to the area in search of the Tennant family.
