Private John Simpson's Musket
Simpson's Musket is a Type III Dutch military flintlock, manufactured between 1750 and 1770. and likely obtained for the New Hampshire Militia during the Seven Years War (1754-1763). It is 79 caliber with a bayonet lug underneath the muzzle. The butt plate is marked "G" and the barrel is marked "No 696." Its bayonet is similarly marked "G-No 696."(center, above right)
