1977 - 1986: Carbon County Coal Company's Carbon County
​No. 1 Underground Mine at Hanna, Wyoming

The Carbon County Coal Company's Carbon County No. 1 Underground Mine started mine development in 1977 and production in 1979. The mine was located four miles north of Hanna. During the eight years the mine was operated by Carbon County Coal, the mine produced 6,543,946 tons of coal with a peak employment in 1983 of 370 workers.  One miner was killed in the mine. In 1987, the mine was sold to the Cyprus Shoshone Coal Company.
