Note: Lawrence Bryan "Larry" "Rocky" Cummings was born October 1, 1896, in Hanna, Wyoming to Michael and Margaret "Maggie" (O'Rourke) Cummings. He had six brothers and three sisters. Larry was shot dead in the street of Rigby, Idaho on May 14, 1926 by John Balmer who was later acquitted of the shooting. He died on May 14, 1926, in Rigby, Idaho, at the age of 29. He was not married at the time of his death. He was buried in the Hanna, Wyoming cemetery in the Cummings plot number 209.
Note: The news of the untimely death of Lawrence Cummings on May 14th at Camas, Idaho, came as a great shock to the community. Mr. Cummings, who was 29 years old at the time of his death, was born in Hanna where he grew to manhood. He was known to all as "Larry" and was well liked and respected for his congenial natural He had been employed at the mines for several years and was a member of the Hanna Baseball Team. During the World War he served in the American Army for two years, being stationed on the Mexican border. He leaves to mourn his death a mother, Margaret Cummings, a sister, Mrs. John Thomas; three brothers, Dennis, Roy, and Robert Cummings, all of Hanna. The funeral was held at the Catholic Church on May 20th. Father Schellinger conducted the service and interment was made in the Hanna Cemetery. The high esteem in which the deceased was held was evidenced by the many beautiful floral offerings and the large attendance at the funeral. Military services were held at the graveside under the auspices of the American Legion of Rawlins. The entire community extends its heartfelt sympathy to the relatives in their sad bereavement.
