Lemoine, Joseph H. Clarence, Henry W. and Joseph E.
Page by Bob Leathers
General Foreman, Joseph H. Lemoine, of Hanna, and his three sons now in the service of this country, are certainly doing their bit to maintain this nation as a free country where you and I can do as we please. Joe started working for The Union Pacific Coal Company in the summer of 1910, when he was employed as outside laborer on construction of No. 4 Tipple, Hanna. He started underground in No. 4 Mine, Hanna, in 1911, and has been in service since that time, having done almost every job in the mine from loading coal to running a Thew shovel. He has held various positions, leading up to his present one.
His three boys, Clarence, Henry, and Joseph, were also employees of this Company prior to entering the service of Uncle Sam.
Clarence is a college graduate in Pharmacy from the University of Colorado, and a registered pharmacist in Colorado. He is now serving as a pharmacist’s mate, second class, with the U.S. Navy.
Henry, having had two years of college work in geology, is now in the Navy, and has recently been advanced to aviation machinist’s mate, third class.
Joseph, the youngest of the three, formerly employed at Hanna as a machinist, is now in the Army. (UPCCEM, December 1942)
