1935 March: Edward Robert McAtee was born in Hanna, Wyoming to Edward and Willetta McAtee (Warburton).
1940: Edward "Ed" McAtee, age 5, was living with his parents Edward and Willetta McAtee in Hanna, Wyoming. Living with them was his sister Nancy Carol McAtee, age 11 months.
1953: Ed McAtee graduate from Hanna High School.
1957 May 22: Edward Robert McAtee married Frances Carol Slingerland in Thurston, Washington.
1959: Ed and Carol were living in Laramie, Wyoming. Ed was a student at the University of Wyoming.
1965: Ed McAtee returned to Hanna High School to teach and coach basketball.
Coach McAtee was a graduate of Hanna High School. He received his B.S. at the University of Wyoming. He taught and coached basketball at St. Marys in Cheyenne, before returning to Hanna in 1965 to teach math, coach basketball, football and track along with acting as sponsor of the H-Club. After a long career in Hanna he retired in Hanna. (Bob Leathers)

2015 June 20: Edward R. McAtee St. Edward R. McAtee Sr., a longtime resident ol Hanna, died at Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, Wyoming. A headstone was placed in the Hanna, Wyoming cemetery in the McAtee plot 433.

Note: Edward R. McAtee St. Edward R. McAtee Sr., a longtime resident ol Hanna, died Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Ivinson Memorial Hospital surrounded by the love of his three children. Edward was born March 2, 1935 being the eldest child of Edward F and Willetta McAtee Edwerd was in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Alaska, serving on the military cross-country ski unit. He was honorably discharged and married Frances Carol Slingerland of Washington. Edward graduated from Hanna High School, Later, he earned a B.S. degree in physical and math education from the University of Wyoming and a master's degree in Oklahoma. Mr. McAtee was a math teacher and multi-season coach at St. Mary's School in Cheyenne. In August 1964. Edward moved to Hanna, where he was a beloved coach, math teacher and principal, spending the remainder of his tenure at Hanna High School until his retirement May 30, 1992. Outside of professional life, Ed was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing in the Medicine Bow Mountain Range area and at Seminoe Reservoir. He was passionate about hunting, and his shot was as good as any marksman. Even after retirement from education, Ed was still involved in community activities. He would substitute at Hanna High School and was an announcer at the Miner's football and basketball games. Last year, being a longtime resident of Hanna and former teacher, Edward dedicated the new Hanna Elementary School. He was honored to cut the ribbon to this new school. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Frances Carol McAtee; brother William "Bill" McAtee; and sister Nancy Aguilar. Mr. McAtee is survived by three children, Rob McAtee, of Elk Mountain, Michael McAtee, of Phoenix, and Mary Combs of
Hammonton, New Jersey. Ed left behind six grandchildren, Patrick McAtee, Sarah McAtee, Samantha Combs, Michael Combs, Megan McAtee and Zach McAtee. He also has two great- grandchildren. Ed had many friends he left behind and enjoyed playing cribbage and drinking coffee with them. His friends were very special to him. No services are planned, however, friends and family did gather at Poulas Bar on June 23, 2015. His ashes will be scattered by family members at two selected locations in September. Note: Frances Carol McAtee, 74, of Hanna, died Thursday, Feb. 4 at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. She was born on Sept. 2, 1935, in Los Angeles, Calif. To Robert and Dorothy Slingerland. At the age of 6 she moved to Centralia, Wash., where she was raised and graduated from high school. She was known as Carol. On May 29, 1957 she married Edward R. McAtee. They moved to Wyoming in July 1957 and they have been here ever since. They had three children, Rob, Mary, and Mike. In her younger years she was a fine pool player and has won many trophies. She also loved fishing at Seminoe with Ed.
She is survived by her husband Ed, three children; Rob McAtee (Cathy) of Elk Mountain; Mike McAtee (Shanna) of Phoenix, Ariz.; Mary Combs (Roger) of Hammonton, N. J.; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; her sister, Verona of Washington; her step-mother, Florence; and her mother-in-law, Willetta of Laramie.
She was preceded in death by her father; mother; father-in-law, Ed McAtee; sister-in-law, Nancy Aguilar; and brother-in-law, Bill McAtee. At Carol’s request no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a charity of your choice in her memory. Services are under the direction of Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home.
