He came to Hanna with his mother in 1923. He graduated from Hanna High School in 1931. He was an employee of the Union Pacific Coal Company from October 1934 to August 1942. Besides his mother, John was survived by an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rookala.
