Life Story

1838 September 17: John Paul Jones was born in Llanpumpsaint, Carmarthen, Wales, UK, to John and Mary (Thomas) Jones.  (1818 UK Census)
1838 September 16: Margaret was born in Llanfihangel, Llanfyllin, Powys, Wales.
1858: John P. Jones and Margaret married in Walton West. Pembrokehshire, Wales. 
1871: John P. Jones and Margaret were living in Cwmdu, Brecknockshire, Wales.
1881: John P., age 43 was living in Llanwonno, Glamorgan, Wales. He was a foreman of an underground mine. Living with him were: Margaret Jones, his wife, age 42; David Jones, age 20, a coal miner; John Jones, age 18, a coal miner; Mary Ann Jones, age 15; Caroline Jones, age 12; Maggie Jones, age 3; and James W. Jones, age 1. Catherine, his first-born child, was not listed on the census. (1881 UK Census)
1888: John P. and Margaret arrived in the United States from Llanwonno, Glamorgan, Wales They ended up in Carbon, Wyoming to work in the coal mines.
1900 June: John P., age 62, a coal miner, immigrated in 1888, was living in Carbon with his wife Margaret, age 61, in house #12. Living with them was William, age 20, single, a coal miner, born July of 1879 in Wales, immigrated in 1888; Evans, Tally, age 6, grandson, single, born March 1894 in Wyoming and Evans, John B., son-in-law, age 41, born Oct. 1859, widower, a coal miner, immigrated in 1891. 1900: John P. worked in the Union Pacific Coal Company's No. 1 mine in Hanna. It was the only mine producing coal in 1900. 
1910: John Paul Jones, age 72, married 52 years, immigrated in 1888, was living in House #46 in Hanna with his wife Margaret, age 71, married 52 years, immigrated in 1889. Living with them was William J., age 30, single, a coal miner, born in Wales; Evans, Tallisen, age 16, single, born in Wyoming; James Davis, grandson, age 10, born in Wyoming. (1910 US Census)
1912 January 29: John Paul Jones died in Hanna, Wyoming and was buried in the Hanna Cemetery in plot 72.
1914 August 8: Margaret died in Hanna, Wyoming. She was buried in the Hanna Cemetery in plot 72 next to her husband John Paul Jones. ​
John Paul Jones and Margaret had seven children together:
  1. Catherine Jones (1858 - 1940) Born in Wales. 
  2. David Jones (1860 - 1920) Born in Wales. Married Mary Ann (Hallier) in Wales. Died in 1920 in Hanna. 
  3. John A. Jones (1863 - 1947) Born in Wales.
  4. Mary Ann Jones (1866 - ?) Born in Wales.
  5. Caroline Jones (1869 - 1894) Born in Wales.
  6. Margaret Jones (1877 - 1914) Born in Wales.
  7. James William Jones (1879 - 1953) Born in Wales.
